| Description: Horsetail is a hardy perennial that commonly grows densely near slow or still waters. In fact, it is so hardy; Horsetail was a predominant plant during the Carboniferous Period. This grass-like herb contains stems with a whorl of small black tipped scale laves. Horsetail has a central stem which is 80% hollow and separates at each joint when the stem is pulled. It reproduces by spores rather than pollen. |
