Origin: Quassia is found natively in the American tropics as well as the Caribbean. It derives its name from the native healer Quassia who was a Guyanan which introduced the Europeans to the healthy benefits of this tree. The Greeks called it Picrasma meaning “bitter taste”. |

| Description: The Quassia tree is resistant to pests which reflects its antiparasitic healing agents. Today Quassia is still considered one of the safest insecticides. Quassin is 50 times bitterer than quinine. |
