Name: Tarragon
Biological Name: Artemisia dracunculus
Common Names: French Tarragon, Little Dragon, Estragon.

Origin: Tarragon is a close relative to Wormwood and is a perennial herb.  Its French name translates into “little dragon” and may have derived this name from its ability to cure bites and stings of venomous insects and animals.

Description: Grows to a height of about two feet tall.  It has long undivided narrow leaves with small yellow flowers that blossom in August.  The roots are fibrous and long.

Uses: Tarragon possesses an essential volatile oil that is chemically similar to Anise.  Its properties include functions as a digestive tonic, diuretic, stomach tonic as well as a vermifuge.  Tarragon improves digestion and stimulates the kidneys, uterus and heart.  It is currently being studied for its ability to counter heart diseases.  Tarragons primary function within the Adrenix formula is to support the heart as the heart can be strained by the stresses of stimulating the adrenals.  Chemical Constituents: Essential oil (estragole), eugenol, flavonoids (quercitin, rutin), iodine, vitamin C, tannins, coumarins.  (Tarragon can also help numb the mouth and relieve toothaches until a dentist can be seen).
