Origin: Uva is the latin word for ‘grape’ and Ursi means ‘of the bear’.  The Spanish called it Little Apple for the look of its berries.  Uva Ursi is found in North America, Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, Himalayas and Siberia.

Used to treat urinary infections, bladder inflammation, kidney stones and diarrhea.  Uva Ursi converts into an antimicrobial when absorbed into the stomach.  It also has strong astringent and disinfectant properties in addition to helping alkalinize the urine.  Uva Ursi also has known uses for bronchitis and coughing.  Chemical Constituents: Glycosides (arbutin, ericolin), allantoin, flavonoids (quercitin, myricacitrin), tannins, ellagic acid, gallic acid, malic acid, ursolic acid.
