Origin: Early on, this herb was used for bladder stones and derived the Celtic title Ferfaen which means to ‘drive away stone’. It was also used to decorate ancient sacrificial alters. The Romans used it as a symbol of peace and the Christians used Vervain to sprinkle holy water. The value of Vervain to the Christians may have been derived the Myth that this herb was used to treat the wonds of the crucified Savior. |
